#7 Oklahoma hosted #2 Lindenwood for a pair of games this weekend, coming away with a win for a split series.
Fridays game appeared to be closer than the score let on. A hard hitting match up, Defenseman Joe Adams would leave the game in the first after taking a hit on the boards, fracturing his ankle as well as having two dislocated shoulders. Lindenwood finished off the Sooners 4-0 in the match up, holding OU to just 15 shots on goal. That SOG total was the lowest for Oklahoma this season. Sooner tender Colin Fernandes stopped 20 of the 24 shots thrown at him.
Lindenwood’s Netminder Kent Henry would end the night with a shut out, now a solid 2.00.
The Sooners would return the favor on Saturday, shutting out the Lions 5-0. The win would break a 16 game losing streak OU had to Lindenwood. The Sooners would set the pace early, scoring four of the goals in the first period. Alex Jacobs and Steven Behm would score 27 seconds apart. Nic Power would also score, on a short-handed chance, Ryan Lee scoring with three seconds left in the first. With just over four minutes left in the second period, OU’s Blake Martin finally sunk another in the net, OU’s fifth and last goal. Tender Colin Fernandes would again start, stopping 13 shots before receiving a game misconduct penalty in the second period. He would be replaced by Matt Pombo, who would stop all 13 shots he faced as well.
