Oklahoma travels to the far North-Great Northwest Showcase

Tonight kicks off the Inaugural year of the Great Northwest Showcase. The four game tournament will feature four teams, 2 Canadian, 2 American. The goal of the GNS is to promote post-secondary education in sport.

Games will be available for online viewing at www.fasthockey.com ( $7.99)

Friday December 28th
4:00pm PST – UBC vs ASU
7:15pm PST – SFU vs OU
Saturday December 29th
4:00pm PST – UBC vs OU
7:15pm PST – SFU vs ASU

This is the Sooners first game since Dec. 8th when they handedly defeated UCO. Oklahoma is 14-7-1 in the ACHA, Simon Fraser 8-1-1 in the BCIHL. The Sooners should have a few fans in the stands, goaltender Colin Fernandes ( 11-4-0, 2.17 GAA, 0.92 save percentage) lives just minutes away in Surrey, BC. Three others on the Sooner roster call Canada home as well. Darrell Bolden, Louis Libin and Jeffrey Coates all hail from Calgary, Alberta. Head Coach Peter Arvantis is from Montreal,Quebec. Mico Solorzano will play this weekend in the showcase despite having to serve a disqualification penalty from the fight that occurred in the UCO bedlam game. The GNS in a non-ACHA tournament, so Solorzano is able to compete.


ACHA #1 Arizona State (20-2-0) will face University of BC (9-6-1) in the first game of the tournament.
