The Oklahoma Sooners 11th hockey season will start at home on September 20th. The Sooners will host Division III Arkansas on Friday night at 7:30, then again on Saturday at 4pm.
Adrian College comes to town the following weekend to OKC, the 27th and 28th. Adrian ended the regular ACHA season sitting at number 1. It should be an interesting first D1 game for the Sooners. Unfortunately for OU attendance, the 27th is also the night of the OKC NHL Showcase featuring the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars.
The Western Collegiate Hockey League starts it’s first year this season featuring six teams. Oklahoma and UCO are both members. the first WCHL matchup for OU will be hosting Arizona State on Oct. 17, followed by two nights hosting Arizona. Arizona State will be up the interstate in Edmond playing UCO those same two nights.
Rutgers will visit OKC as well in October. Last year, the scheduled games had to be cancelled due to the devastation from Hurricane Sandy. Let’s hope there are no issues this time around! DII Texas A&M and Lindenwood will also both return this season.
My main interest is having the Illinois Fighting Illini back to town for two games, November 22nd and 23rd. Sunday the 24th, Illinois is scheduled to play at UCO.
There are plenty of home games and some great opponents for Sooner hockey fans this year, so let’s show up and fill those seats!!
