Sooners sweep the Razorbacks in their Home Opener

The #6 Oklahoma hockey team hosted DIII Arkansas on Friday and Saturday, sending the Razorbacks home without a win but nothing to be ashamed about in their performance.

Friday’s home opener brought in a decent sized crowd and an even more decent sized score. The Sooners took an 8-0 shutout in spite of many penalties.  Brandon Dennis scored the first goal of the season for OU near the half way mark of the first period. Three minutes later, Mico Solorzano scored and was sent to the penalty box immediately afterwards for roughing. 32 seconds later, Bryce Johnson scored the short-handed goal. OU remained scoreless until 30 seconds into the Second Period. Jordan Greenberg scored twice in the second, Joe Adams with one near the end of the period.

At the start of the third period, Arkansas took to long to come out onto the ice and were assessed a delay of game penalty. The Sooners could not capitalize on it however and would not score again until late in the period. Freshman Kale Erickson got his first goal and Corey Ramsey was credited with the eighth goal of the game. The Sooner bench was sure it was Brandon Dennis that should have received the credit on that sliding goal.

IMG_0004 Saturday the Razorbacks came out with more pressure on OU, keeping the score down to a more respectable 3-0.

Kevin Darcy and Darrell Boldon scored in the first period, Corey Ramsey nailing goal number three in the Third period.

Oklahoma is back at it on the 27th and 28th, hosting #4 Adrian (OU’s Kale Erickson and Darrell Boldon are Adrian transfers).
