With the first player signing of the season, the OKC Jr. Blazers jumped right in with taking Forward Matt Levene. Matt played last year for the University of Oklahoma hockey team where in 12 games played, he came away with 2 assists.
“Matt is the first signing in the History of our hockey club and I know he will be one of the top players in the league. Matt played with the OU Sooners last year, arguably the top ACHA D1 program in the country,” said head coach and GM Tyler Fleck. “It is rare for a junior hockey club to have a player that has already competed at the college level. So for him to make OU’s roster last year and join our club this year is huge. Matt will come in and be leader for us and help this hockey club be a contender immediately in the WSHL.”
Goaltender Ben Perone of Rockville, Maryland has also signed with the Jr. Blazers for the 2014-2015 inaugural season. Ben played last year as member of the Washington Jr Nationals of the MetJHL where he carried a 7.06 GAA.
“Ben comes to us on very high recommendation from Jason Wolfe our head scout. Last year Ben played for a struggling team and saw alot of rubber. It is important that we have young guys in our line up that have played at the jr level already, they know what it takes to compete at this level.”

“A couple of my previous coaches had played for and against the Blazers professional teams in the past, I have heard nothing but great things about the city and about the atmosphere that surrounded the team. I know the old Blazers had phenomenal fan support, and I am sure that will continue with the new Blazers generation going forward. Although this be our first year as a team (in the WSHL), I fully expect to make the playoffs and plan on winning a national championship.”
