For the third year, former University of Oklahoma Goaltender Nick Holmes is hosting a goalie camp for kids of any age, whether they are familiar with the position or just want to try it out for the first time.
This years camp takes place on July 11,12, and 13th 2014 and will be held at the Blazers Ice Center, home of the University of Oklahoma hockey team. The camp runs for about 3 hours those three days, from 9am-12:30pm with on ice time, off ice instruction, followed by a video session. (Parents will be able to have a meeting with their goalie and instructor after sessions on the 13th.)
The cost is $250 per goalie and each goalie will receive a free camp jersey. While the majority of camp goers tend to be boys, girls are welcome and encouraged. Due to a generous (anonymous) benefactor who wants to help in the promotion of girls hockey in Oklahoma, one scholarship is awarded every camp season. This years winner is 8 year old Kairi Cheverie. Kairi is the second female goalie to participate in the camp. Last years scholarship winner was the first female goalie to participate in the camp, Zoey Tennyson. Show ’em how it’s done ladies!
There is still room for more little goalies to attend and a great chance to get instruction from one of the top goaltenders in the ACHA. Plus, you never know who might stop by for a visit in net.
