After months of rumors, the University of Oklahoma hockey team has announced forward Taylor Herndon will be returning to the great state of Oklahoma this upcoming fall and be joining the team. Herndon has been in Mankato,MN the last two seasons with the NCAA DI Minnesota State University Mavericks.
While playing for the Mavericks, Herndon has amassed 1 goal, 3 assists and 15 Penalty Minutes in 20 games played over two seasons.
“Taylor is a player we tried to recruit 2 years ago when he was part of the NAHL Championship Team with the Texas Tornado. He had several DI opportunities and chose to go that route, but we are very excited that he has made his decision to come to our program this season. He brings size, strength, goal scoring ability, and a winning attitude. He has the potential to do great things at Oklahoma.”
— Sooners Head Coach Peter Arvanitis
Herndon will join some former teammates from the North American Hockey League Texas Tornado, who together won the NAHL Championship in 2012. Mico Solorzano and Jordan Greenberg currently play on the Sooner team.
” I wanted to continue my career at the University of Oklahoma because it has always been my favorite college with a winning tradition. I think that with the talent that the OU already has and the talent coming in, it should be a great season to make a run at the National Championship”.
