Oklahoma 2016-2017 schedule released

One of the first things you notice with this years schedule, is the effects on sharing a rink with a Junior team. The past couple years haven’t been too bad for OU for the game schedule, but this year it’s a bit more noticeable. Less 2pm Sunday games are bonus however, only one weekend involving a 4pm and a 2pm game (Southern Methodist-Texas)

The majority of the home games are right at the beginning of the season. The Sooners won’t hit the road until late October when they travel to Missouri to face Lindenwood, then return to Oklahoma for two more series of games. The last 2 months of the season will be a desolate time with only two home games remaining. In January, Robert Morris-Penn comes to town and a month later, the second Bedlam matchup is the last game of the regular season. The ACHA Nationals are played in Columbus, OH on March 9-14th.

This October the Sooners will welcome back to the BIC a new ACHA DI Arizona State team. ASU dresses a new ACHA squad after the previous ACHA Champion team made the jump to NCAA DI. (ASU also adds a Woman’s ACHA DI team this season.)

The Sooners said goodbye to seven Seniors last year, including their Captain, top scorer and top defensemen. We’ll find out on September 15th when OU hosts Alabama what the new recruits bring to the ice.

You can see the full schedule and times at the OU Hockey website .
